Presentation Abstract
The session on Effective
Assessment Tools in Teaching History for High School Students examines the
fundamental principles of formative assessment in the Social Studies classroom.
These fundamental principles include a focus on the learner, using assessment
data to improve teaching, and effective use of feedback. The session highlights
the importance of ‘assessment for learning’ in the K12 History classroom.
Moreover, formative assessment teaching techniques will also be discussed to
demonstrate how the principles work in the History classroom.
